I'm just tickled pink, or should I say? ... tickled coral about my first ever Gladiolus blooms. I had bought a bag of cheapo Gladiolus corms from Walmart and decided to pre-start them indoors in early April. I put them in an aluminum lasagna pan filled with about 2 inches of water and placed the pan (on a snack table) in front of the sliding glass door in my kitchen. Since this was the only place in my house that got a decent amount of sun, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. To my surprise, two weeks later I had roots starting to form. By mid-May, the corms were well rooted and starting to push up slender green leaf tips. It was time to pot my babies up in some good potting soil and move them outside.
These are my growing Glads in mid-June.
Flower stalks forming in July.
Almost there ....
