The Poconos In Mid-January 2017

January in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania is usually a very cold, snowy month. Earlier in the month we had about a week of bitter cold weather, the temps barely making it out of the teens. Since then, it's been milder, but still very much ... Winter.
One of the places we love to frequent year-round is Tobyhanna State Park. We often fish here in the summer and enjoy walking the trails.

On a stroll about a week ago, we watched this dog and its owner walking out on frozen Tobyhanna Lake.

Ice fishing is also very popular here on our lakes in the Winter.

In the Poconos ... the wildlife ... perseveres.
                                                 The eagles stay all Winter.

                                               And our other feathered friends

continue

                                                               to carry on.

And the deer ... will mark another Winter that will slowly fade into Spring.

  1. Beautiful photos of winter! Sitting here in the 70 degree temps in Mississippi, it's hard to imagine how it feels. Love the deer photos and the pileated woodpecker!
