Blooming Amaryllis For Christmas! Yes! But Santa's Not Gonna Like It!

If you've been following my posts, you know that I haven't been very successful growing #amaryllis.  Not from lack of trying.  Oh, the obstacles I had to overcome. First, the damage done by a naughty kitten. Then the bulb who's roots turned into mushy spaghetti. And last, my quest to find the perfect bulb, or amaryllis plant, that would make my #Christmas dream come true.  

Ta-da! I did it!  My Christmas wish will finally come true. In mid-November, I found three perfect, beautiful bulbs.

And now, one stalk has produced a flower which is starting to show color!  Isn't it wonderful? Can you believe it? Uh, well ... Uh,  Let me say, I h-haven't been truly honest with you. Um ...You see, I didn't buy big, beautiful bulbs or beautiful amaryllis plants from a reputable nursery.  Oh, no .... I was weak and bought ... bought ...

this instead!

Not just one, but in fact, I bought 3 waxed encased bulbs ...

and placed them in this bowl and surrounded them with pine cones to hide my evil deed! They require no water, no direct light, no work!  No nothing!

I know I've been a bad girl, but it's worth it don't you think to have beautiful, red blooming amaryllis flowers for Christmas?
